Mother nature has never felt more realistic in a video game. When the rain falls and you’re in the middle of the storm, it feels remarkable. Driving through a sand storm as the grains fly past your car is a unique experience. The weather system in Forza Horizon 5 is like nothing I’ve seen before. Getting behind the wheel and experiencing it for yourself is an honour and a privilege. I’ve never seen a game look as detailed or as real as this. Roads dip down mountains and run through towering trees. There’s such diversity in every area you set foot (or wheel) in. Open deserts, dense jungles, bustling towns, farmlands, and sandy beaches fill the environments.
Mexico is filled with different biomes that span a map 50% larger than that of Forza Horizon 4. While you might be overwhelmed by the amount of things to do, there’s no denying the amount of enjoyment on offer. The amount of opportunities to race, take part in stunts, and explore a beautiful country are vaster than anything that has come before. The selection of cars is by far the biggest yet. The setting of Mexico is beyond stunning. Forza Horizon 5 is the best racing game of all time.
To say Playground Games has made something special is an understatement. However, it is the release of Forza Horizon 5 that has more than levelled the playing field. Halo Infinite is almost upon us, which is more than exciting. While that might be the case, the game is about to be shaken up in a huge way. As PlayStation 5 saw games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Demon Souls, and Returnal spearhead its opening year, Xbox focused more on making Game Pass it’s shining light.
